The Bit Better Company of Manhattan

Privacy Policy

Last updated August 27, 2026

This policy explains what personal data The Bit Better Company of Manhattan LLC collects, why we collect it, and who else handles it. We collect as little as we can get away with, and we do not sell it.

What we collect

  • Your email address. This is the only piece of personal information we ask for. We use passwordless sign in, so there is no username and no password to store.
  • Billing information. If you subscribe, our payment processor collects and stores your payment details. We receive only a record that a payment succeeded, the amount, and the last four digits of the card. We never see or store a full card number.
  • Usage data. Aggregate, privacy respecting analytics about which pages are visited and how the product performs. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not track you across other websites.
  • Support messages. If you email us, we keep the message so we can answer it and refer back to it later.

How we use it

We use your email address to sign you in, to send you things you have asked for, and to send the small number of messages a subscription requires, such as receipts, renewal reminders, price change notices, and security notifications. We use billing data to take payment and to meet our tax and accounting obligations. We use usage data to find bugs, to fix slow or confusing parts of the product, and to decide what to build next. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.

Who processes data for us

We use a small number of established providers, each handling only what their job requires:

  • Payments. Our payment processor handles card details, subscriptions, and billing records.
  • Hosting and infrastructure. Our hosting and database providers store your account and serve the site.
  • Email. Our email provider delivers sign in links and transactional messages.
  • Analytics. Our analytics providers report aggregate usage and help us find parts of the interface that confuse people.

Each provider is bound by its own agreement with us and may use your data only to deliver the service we have contracted them for. We can tell you which providers we use at any time. Just ask.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar local storage only for things the site needs in order to work, chiefly keeping you signed in and remembering your preferences, plus the analytics described above. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not run third party ad networks.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Records of payments are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, normally seven years. Support messages are kept for two years. Analytics data is aggregated and is not tied to your identity.

Your choices and your rights

You can change your email address at any time from your account. You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and the data attached to it. Email support@bitbettercompany.com and we will complete it within 30 days, usually far sooner. We will not charge you for it and we will not make the product worse for you because you asked.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We honor those requests for everyone, wherever they live, rather than checking first.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers. Because we use passwordless sign in, there are no passwords for anyone to steal from us. Access to production data is limited to the founder.

Children

Our products are not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and if the change is material we will tell you by email.
